1. My Safeguard Companion is activated but is not yet showing my updated location. What do I do? Verify that your Safeguard Companion is fully charged and turned on. Place the unit outside or in a window with a clear view to the sky to make sure that it can receive a strong GPS signal. Once the Safeguard Companion is in clear view of the sky, click “Locate Now” on the tracking web interface (Tracking Tools) or mobile application. Depending on your location, this step may need to be repeated several times. Once the Safeguard locks in its new position, you should see that correct location on the map. The GPS portion of the Safeguard Companion is optimized for outdoor use.If your Safeguard Companion does not update with the correct position, turn the device off by holding the power button on top of the device for a few seconds until the two end signal lights turn on, then release the button and the lights will turn off. Wait a few seconds and then turn Safeguard Companion back on by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.On your Tracking Tools, click “Locate Now” on the tracking interface again while the device is at a window or outdoors. It should show the correct location.

2. How can I test Safeguard Companion to make sure it connects to the emergency response operator properly? Once the Safeguard Companion is fully charged and you have updated the position of the unit to your local area, we encourage you to test the Safeguard Companion.Press the SOS button for 3 seconds. You will be connected with a “Get Smart” emergency response operator. Inform the operator immediately that you are testing the unit so that no emergency services are dispatched. This is a great time to adjust the Safeguard’s volume to the levels you require. The volume controls can be found on the side of the device, below the wall charging port.
3. How long are typical charging times for the Safeguard Companion? What’s the average length of the battery? How long does it take to recharge? Charging the Safeguard Companion is made easy by simply plugging the AC charger into the wall and connecting the other end to the charging port on the Safeguard Companion, above the microphone and volume control. You can also use the charging pad (sold separately) to charge your Safeguard Companion. The pad charges the Safeguard Companion when the unit is resting on the pad- no wall plugging in is needed.The Safeguard Companion battery will last up to 5 days, depending on signal strength and how frequently location information is requested. It uses more power when it is in a low cellular signal area or when requesting information from it (Locate Now). Battery life does vary, similarly to your cell phone. The Safeguard Companion can last from over a day in poor conditions to 5 days in standby. Email and text message notifications can be programmed to notify loved ones in real time when the Safeguard Companion’s battery is running low or if it loses power all together.Initial charging of the Safeguard Companion can take up to 5 hours. Any subsequent charging time should generally take up to 3 hours.


4. How do i turn on my Safeguard Companion? Turning on the Safeguard Companion is very easy. Simply press and hold the power button (found on top of the unit where a lanyard connects) for three seconds, until the lights by the SOS button flash.
5. How do I reach the emergency response operator? By pressing and holding the SOS button on the front of your Safeguard Companion for 3 seconds, you will be connected to an emergency response operator. The operator will communicate with you as they receive your location information. The microphone and speaker built into your Safeguard Companion allow 2 way voice capabilities, so you can talk to the operator directly.If help is needed, the emergency care specialist will dispatch appropriate emergency services and/or call your emergency contacts based on what you need. The emergency care specialist will remain on the line with you until help arrives.
6. Can I track my loved one’s Safeguard Companion? Yes, visit www.c3tracking.com and log in with the user name and password set up for your account. Click “Locate Now” on the tracking page to get up to date position information. You can track their whereabouts from any desktop, tablet or Smartphone.
7. How can I change my account’s password, address, phone number or email? To manage your account information, log into your account by going to www.c3tracking.com. To alter your account address or contact phone numbers, click on the Mobile Unit tab at the top of the screen. There you can change your account information. Click Save after editing information in each window. To edit your username or password, click on the User List tab and make your changes. Click Save after editing log in information.
8. Can I view or print out a location history? You can view and/or print recent location history from your tracking interface. Location history is recorded if you did a “Locate Now” or if the Safeguard Companion triggered an alert (ie. Low Battery, Device Power Off etc.).To view history on the map interface, click the Map History tab on your tracking interface. Select the number of days or hours you would like to view on the map.To download history, visit the Reports tab and select a History report for the time frames needed. 9. Can users wear the Safeguard Companion in the shower? The Safeguard Companion should not be used in a shower or submerged in water.
10. Can people with pacemakers use the Safeguard Companion? Individuals with pacemakers should take the same precautions they would take for using a cell phone.
11. How am I notified of low battery and power-off alerts? Alerts come via text message and/or email. You can customize alert settings in your account by going to Alarms on your tracking website tool. Under the Mobile Unit Tab you can specify what email addresses and or phone numbers will receive real time notifications. Click Save after adding any information.
12. What is A-GPS Technology?  A-GPS stands for Assisted Global Positioning System. A-GPS enhances the performance of a basic GPS receiver’s location time and accuracy. A-GPS provides a faster position even if the GPS signal from the Safeguard Companion is weak.
13. How accurate is A-GPS?  A-GPS can accurately locate an object in motion within 5 yards in many cases, depending on the device’s signal strength from the GPS satellites and cellular towers.
14. Why A-GPS rather than standard GPS?  A-GPS takes less power (conserving battery life) and the time to acquire GPS satellite and cell tower signals is much quicker than standard GPS. Under typical GPS operation, a GPS receiver needs more than 30 seconds to receive the GPS satellite position information and other satellite information required to calculate your position. In weak signal areas like canyons, building interiors or locations surrounded by tall trees or buildings, the receiver has limited or no direct access to the open sky, thus determining a position can take longer.
15. Is the Safeguard Companion too heavy to carry around all day?  No, the Safeguard Companion weighs less than 2 oz. making portability easy.
16. Is the Safeguard Companion GPS locator sturdy?  The locator is durable and water-resistant. Included with your purchase is a pouch that further protects the unit. The pouch easily attaches to your belt or purse strap.
17. Do I need any special accessories (ie. lanyard or keychain) for the Safeguard Companion to work?  No, the Safeguard Companion does not require any additional accessory to work properly
